What do these two sites have in common? Different number of links, different link profiles, different ranks, etc. - it would seem that they have nothing in common except one indicator: the huge number of keywords by which they are ranked by search engines.
What did they do to achieve such results?
It all starts with finding the right keywords.
How do most marketers and SEOs do it? They use tools like SEMRush or Ubersuggest to find keywords and type in keywords like “SEO” or “Internet Marketing.” As a result, they get lists of thousands of keywords that are relevant to that topic.

And once the keywords are collected, marketers start doing the same thing as everyone else - building a site and creating content around those keywords.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? It does, because this is the type of promotion that most agencies and professionals teach.
What is wrong with this process?
The thing is, this process is essentially like a card game. You don't know for sure whether you'll rank well for these keywords, and worse, you can't be sure that these keywords will bring you customers and increase sales.
Luckily, we have a guide that will help you rank for thousands of keywords and even more - it will help you choose exactly those keywords that will only bring in high-quality, convertible traffic.
Below are four components of the ideal SEO ranking formula (not including the most important SEO metrics ) that will work for almost any site.
1. Focus on pages that generate profit
Using only the right keywords does not guarantee profit.
If you rank well for a low converting article, you will get good traffic, but that traffic will be irrelevant and therefore will not generate much profit.
Instead, focus on pages that have the potential to bring not so much traffic as a good conversion. For example, this could be a registration page, a purchase page, etc. We recommend focusing on pages such as:
Product/service description pages;
Registration page;
Content pages that link to the above pages.
2. Review the information in Google Search Console
Once you are shopify website design in GSC, you need to go to: Search Traffic >> Search Analysis. You will get traffic information like this:
Toppages
Next, sort the pages by clicks and look at the information for the page that has the most clicks and the highest CTR in the Queries section. You will see information about the search queries that drive traffic to your site.
Page keywords
Next, download the received data in CSV format and open it in Excel - it will look like this:
Excel
Pay attention to the words with the highest conversion, as these are the keywords that have the most potential for your site.
If these words are relevant to the product or service you offer, include them in your website title.
Of course, you won't be able to include all of your keywords in the page title, as it's limited to 60 characters, but by focusing on the most relevant keywords and queries, you can select only the most relevant ones.
The situation is similar for the description meta tag - it allows you to place 156 characters, so you can include even more relevant keywords here.
Let's return to our table - in it you should analyze the links based on the number of clicks, average position and CTR, and then select those words that are optimal and most promising based on the available indicators.

Once sorted, you can focus on them in the future and promote the site specifically based on them.
3. Add relevant (similar) keywords
As in the previous case, go to Google Search Console and follow the path: Search Traffic >> Search Analysis. You will get traffic information, as in the previous point.
Next, collect 10 keywords that bring the most traffic to the site, then go to Google, enter the keys manually and go to the very bottom of the search page, where you will see the relevant keys that users enter in the search:
Google related searches
In this case, using these keywords and/or phrases will only benefit you: firstly, they will bring you much more traffic, secondly, you are already ranking for the main keyword, so it will be much easier for you to rank for similar queries.
By selecting keys, you can significantly expand the query cluster. Thus, by selecting only 8 similar queries for one keyword, for 10 keys you will already receive 80 additional keywords/phrases. They, in turn, can be used according to a similar principle in the future - thus, you will expand the query cluster by which you are found in the search engine.
4. Bring to the TOP-10 the keywords that are currently in the TOP-20
As you know, 91% of visitors never go to the 2nd page of search. In other words, the 2nd page of search is a place where there is still a chance to get traffic, but it is so insignificant that very often such pages are simply forgotten.
On the one hand, such pages are unlikely to collect traffic and provide good conversion if they are left in their previous positions.
On the other hand, if you are in 11-12-13 position for a query that can bring good traffic and conversion, then you need to “pull up” these keys to get into the TOP-10 for the query.
Semrushkeywords
The key here is to make sure that the keywords you want to rank for are the ones that will increase your sales, leads, and bottom line.
Conclusion
The above method of working with keywords is quite complex and cumbersome compared to classical methods of selecting keywords. But at the same time, this method works, and works well.
Creating new content is good, but improving the content and materials that are already driving the most traffic is better.
